The pound (symbol: £; ISO code: GBP) is divided into 100 pence and is the official currency of the United Kingdom and the Crown Dependencies. "Quid", is the slang term commonly used in the UK.

Officially, the full name is the pound sterling (plural: pounds sterling)but is mainly used in formal contexts and when it's necessary to differentiate the currency used within the United Kingdom from others with the same name. The Sterling is the third most traded currency in the world, after the US dollar and the euro.
