» The dollar hit a two-month low against the euro and a number of major currencies on Thursday as soft PPI and manufacturing data added to concern about the strength of the U.S. economy.
» US sharemarkets again strengthened in late trade to close largely flat. The Dow Jones gained 90 points in the last 30 minutes of trade to finish 7 points weaker. The S&P 500 rose by 0.1% while the Nasdaq fell by less than 1 point or less than 0.1%.
» Goldman Sachs settled its dispute with the Securities and Exchange Commission for a rumoured $550mio.
» European shares fell for the second day on Thursday with mixed economic data in the US offsetting positive earnings news from JP Morgan.
